Mission Critical Product Certification Program
Product Certification refers to the Program that The Uptime Institute is developing for mission critical equipment. Unlike many other industries, the mission critical facilities industry does not have uniform standards or certification methods to determine which products best serve the unique reliability needs of uninterruptible uptime. The adoption of new technology is a continuing issue and results in aging and sometimes obsolete technical approaches to problems that are evolving or changing. Despite knowing that the old approaches may no longer be appropriate, consulting engineers and end users are often apprehensive about being on the "bleeding edge" and creating unintended site failures. The intent of this Program is to comply with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) guidelines for Testing and Certifying Bodies. The following documents detail the inception of the Program, Organizational Guidelines, and Product Evaluation Guidelines. Please direct your comments and questions concerning the Mission Critical Product Certification Program to MissionCritical@upsite.com.

Site Infrastructure Tier Certifications
The Uptime Institute has standardized the tiered approach to classifying site infrastructure. The Tier Classification system provides a standard in an industry where competing companies with data centers of radically different infrastructure all claim to deliver high availability. Site certification identifies the Tier Classification of electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
