The Uptime Institute’s
SYMPOSIUM & EXHIBITION SERIES

High-Density Computing:
Trends, Challenges, Benefits, Costs,& Solutions

April 23 to 26, 2006 – Orlando, Florida
The first fully integrated all-stakeholder event to proactively address high-density computing best practices ranging from total cost of ownership to cooling.
A New, Industry-Wide Approach to Addressing Pending
High-Density Computing Challenges

The Uptime Institute's High-Density Computing Symposium & Exhibition’s unique approach for understanding and predicting the future of high-density computing is to identify the contributions and constraints each industry stakeholder represents to the overall demands/limitations of high-density computing.

Each of the vertical stakeholder “stovepipes” in the Symposium’s model has “some” answers, but these stovepipes have rarely, if ever, all been in the same room trying to simultaneously understand each other’s perspective, constraints and the requirements for holistic solutions. Our goal is to include all functions in IT planning and decision-making processes through which we could truly help to make optimized decisions. Together, we have the chance to make better economic and technical decisions and now is the time to begin.

Questions This Symposium Aims to Answer:
  • Is large scale deployment of high-density computing a media myth or an impending business reality?
  • Is high-density the third wave of computing posing major technical and organizational challenges?
  • How will IT need to change?
  • How does understanding the linkage between new application growth rates and heat rejection help you and your organization make the right choices?
  • Has the cost of high-density infrastructure truncated the economic benefits of Moore’s Law?
  • What can you learn from user-proven examples of successful high-density cooling?
  • What is the science behind high density cooling?
  • Is water cooling coming back?
  • How will you be impacted when the cost of critical infrastructure becomes an increasing percentage of Information Technology’s budget (10-15%)?
