The average data center has a rated cooling capacity that is more than 3 x the IT load. This is symptomatic of an over-cooling epidemic in data centers globally. But how do you know if you’re one of them?
Upsite developed the Cooling Capacity Factor (CCF) as a metric to benchmark rated cooling capacity vs. utilization. By calculating this number, you can determine how well you’re utilizing your cooling infrastructure.
The ideal CCF is 1.2. If your computer room has a CCF greater than 1.2, there may be an opportunity to right-size your cooling infrastructure and improve energy efficiency.
