Control Data Center Cooling Costs

It is not uncommon that 40- 50% of a data center’s total electrical load is resultant from cooling equipment; roughly the same fraction of the energy that is used to supply the IT equipment itself. The cooling plant power consumption dominates the critical infrastructure energy usage, leaving things like UPS inefficiencies, copper losses, and lighting as distant runner-ups. It therefore follows, that data center owners who wish to improve their PUE should logically, first look for opportunities of waste reduction in the cooling system.
