Upsite launches a next-generation rack-mount Power Distribution Unit (PDU); adds PowerLok® to its Lok family of data center solutions

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – March 19, 2020 – Upsite Technologies, the global leader in data center airflow management and cooling optimization solutions, today announced a next-generation, rack-mount PDU for the United States and Canadian data center markets.

The new PDU, appropriately named PowerLok, fits into Upsite’s current product portfolio as a solution that is specifically designed to increase the efficiency and reliability of data center IT equipment. With automated soldering from line input to each receptacle, PowerLok eliminates all mechanical connections, making it 270% less likely to fail than rack PDUs with mechanical terminations, per an independent study. In addition, PowerLok’s fully soldered approach enables a slim profile and sleek modern design that makes the PDU more agile and aesthetically pleasing within IT equipment racks.

PowerLok will initially feature units with 20 and 30 amps including 240/415V, with expanded product lines to be offered in 2020. A full list of the PDU’s unique and innovative customizations available at launch include:

  • Patent-pending cord-locking system for easy insertion, retention, and detachment of plugs into the receptacles with a single hand, called CordLok®.
  • Touchscreen display that helps eliminate the need for external, mechanical push buttons and communicates all power information related to the strips via SNMP and Ethernet.
  • Standard angled whip input where the cord comes into the power strip and the busway, allowing for cords to take up much less space and making for easy installation in the server rack.

Next day shipping will be available for 34 select models of PowerLok, while over 8,000 configurable models will be able to ship to customers within 10-14 business days.

“We are excited to bring this innovative PDU to the market and add to our existing product portfolio of data center solutions,” said Al Zoldos, Vice President of Upsite Technologies. “There has been a need in the industry for an agile supplier of PDUs that offers competitive pricing, superior construction, and quick delivery and we aimed to address that across the board with PowerLok. From convenience at the ordering stage to the many unique customizations of the product itself, PowerLok offers greater reliability, advanced functionality, and an overall higher standard of PDUs for mission critical facilities,” Zoldos added.
